*INCUBUS
interdisciplinary project
In many cultures, the incubus is described as a mythological creature that sexually harasses women in their sleep.
Although the idea of the incubus has inspired numerous works of art, books and films over the centuries, the reality of sexual assault against women is not fiction. Subtle comments, unintentional Subtle comments, unwanted touching, emotional violence, sexual assault, rape, stalking. The acceptance of minor harassment and boundary violations against women is often an expression of deeply rooted social structures and role models. The photo series deals with the everyday experiences of women and illustrates how they are often confronted with harassment, discrimination and violence – whether in intimate relationships, on the street or at work. Fear often accompanies women in their everyday lives and influences their decisions and interactions. It is part of a larger social phenomenon that manifests itself in various forms of harassment, discrimination and violence. It is often the small gestures of solidarity and respect that can help women feel safer and more comfortable. We all have a responsibility to create a world in which every person is respected and protected – in all areas of life.
